Ogilvy & Mather’s latest ad for KFC features Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Tamara Beckwith (right) as two wannabe film stars. The ad which breaks on Friday promotes the new hot ‘n’ spicy chicken on the bone, a variation on the original chicken recipe from KFC.

BT has shortlisted Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO, Leo Burnett, Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters and M&C Saatchi to handle its press campaign, estimated to be worth between 5m and 10m. It will be the first time BT’s business and consumer divisions have run a joint campaign.

David Herro, the US investment manager who forced Maurice Saatchi out of Saatchi & Saatchi in 1994, has dismissed a suggestion that Maurice has made approaches to buy back his old company. ‘We are the second largest investor [in Saatchi] with about 12 per cent and we have not been approached,’ says Herro. ‘I don’t think he would have any way to raise the funds to buy the group.’

Evans Hunt Scott and WWAV Rapp Collins will vie for the DM business. Incumbent GGT Direct will work in tandem with the new DM agency. There are separate shortlists for the database management and corporate identity accounts.

J Walter Thompson Worldwide chief executive officer Chris Jones is to assume the additional title of chairman. Former chairman Burt Manning, who retired last December, has been named chairman emeritus.

Amnesty International is launching a cinema campaign on the back of Steven Spielberg’s Amistad. The ad is in conjunction with The Co-Operative Bank and was produced by Tomato.

Rolling Rock, owned by Whitbread, is launching a 3m TV ad push on March 9. The ads are based on the theme ‘On a roll with a Rock’.

Medicentre, owned by Sinclair Montrose, has appointed Galloway & Co to its 500,000 advertising business to promote the new walk-in doctor service.
