Manpower hires two for Euro growth

Manpower, the employment services group which last month announced a 12m sponsorship of the Millennium Dome, has hired two executives as part of a push to increase its business in Europe.

Thomas Cook marketer Dido Harding joins as vice-president of strategic marketing for Europe. And John Sharkey, former partner of Manpower’s advertising agency Bainsfair Sharkey Trott, has been appointed managing director for Europe.

Former European managing director Jon Chait has been promoted to chairman.

A spokesman for Manpower says: “We are seeing multicountry bids increasing and this demands more international marketing.”

Harding joined Thomas Cook in 1996 as director of marketing for UK retail and was appointed director of Thomas Cook Interactive in February. Her remit was to develop alternative distribution channels such as Websites and interactive TV.
