Danka appoints EURO RSCG to 5m international print campaign

EURO RSCG Wnek Gosper has won the estimated 5m international Danka fax and photocopying business following a three-way pitch. The media account went to the agency’s affiliate Mediapolis.

EURO RSCG beat Grey and Publicis Focus to secure the account, which was initially thought to be worth as much as 10m (MW February 5). The budget has been set for a six-month period and will pay for a print campaign across Europe and Australia – the areas covered by Danka’s international division.

Danka is spending 7m on sponsoring the Formula One Danka Arrows team, which last season included Damon Hill. The international advertising is designed to exploit the increased brand awareness by explaining what products Danka sells.

“The priority is for simple communications – to tell people what we do,” says Danka director of marketing communications Barrie George. “It will complement what we are doing with Formula One.”

The work was researched in the UK, Germany and France and will break in early May in time for the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. Danka has previously spent the bulk of its UK marketing budget on sports sponsorship, including a shirt deal with Premier League football team Everton.
