Ogilvy & Mather is to unveil a national poster campaign on Thursday for the ‘Debate of the Age’ – a huge public consultation process to address the changes in our society resulting from an ageing UK population. The initiative, co-ordinated by Age Concern and backed by companies such as Bupa, includes TV and radio debates, an attitudinal survey and a roadshow. O&M’s drive, which will be followed by press ads, underlines the fact that nothing about the future is certain. For the first week, ads will show a TV screen with one of five sets of shocking bogus statistics. The ads then read: ‘The statistics of the future haven’t been written yet. Don’t let someone else write them for you.’
