Royal Parks plans branded product range
Fans of the late Princess of Wales may soon be able to buy packets of grass seed from the lawns of Kensington Gardens, the public park around her former home Kensington Palace.
The Royal Parks, the organisation which represents London’s parks, is investigating the launch of upmarket branded products, including Kensington Gardens grass seed, a magazine and beauty products.
Royal Parks, which includes Kensington Gardens, Regents Park, Green Park, and Greenwich Park, has appointed licensing company Zone to handle the merchandising of its brand. All products will carry the Royal Parks logo, which incorporates a lion and a unicorn.
Edward Freedman, managing director of Zone, says launch plans include bottled water from a spring in Hyde Park, roses, bath scents and garden tools.
Zone is seeking an advertising agency to promote the branded products, and is hunting park sponsors. “We are looking at developing it as an international brand as we expect it could be big in the US and Japan,” says Freedman.
Royal Parks is also launching a magazine, which will be free to residences surrounding the parks and from luxury London hotels.
