Internet World 98 Preview

Internet World UK 98, which is taking place at Olympia London from May 12 – 14, has been billed as an exhibition and conference that will provide a one-stop shop for implementing Internet, intranet and Web-based business solutions.

Conferences at the show will stress to UK business the urgency of adapting their companies to incorporate Internet capability to compete in the emerging worldwide business environment.

Michael Hislop, managing director of Mecklermedia which is organising the show, says: “The show highlights the pressing need for businesses to embrace the Internet or risk being left in the dark ages. The conference enables attendees to understand how to use the Internet within their business – from improving and reducing the costs of communication to actually using the Internet for selling goods and services.”

Internet World has conferences aimed at both the non-technical and technical markets to discuss and educate businesses on how they can use the Internet to gain competitive advantage.

The emphasis of the show has been influenced by a recent survey commission by Oracle and the Institute of Directors which claims that 88 per cent of Americans access the Web on a daily basis compared with only ten per cent of Britons.

For the non-technical business market, Internet World offers conference events examining e-commerce, marketing and media issues.

For the IT professionals, Web designers and developers, there will be information on implementing the new technologies in an existing enterprise as well as visions for the future from technology experts. There will be about 200 exhibitors at the show.
