The Diary has discovered the real reason why Mark Gordon decided to become director of Disneyland Paris last year.

Was it the opportunity to work for one of the best known brands in the world? Was it the chance to travel to Paris at the drop of a hat? Or could it have been the ability to wear Mickey Mouse ears at work without being laughed at?

Sadly it was none of these. The real reason was that the die-hard Chelsea fanatic can now see no fewer than five football grounds – Stamford Bridge, Wembley, Craven Cottage, Loftus Road and Griffin Park – from his Hammersmith office window.
