BG division loses marketing chief
British Gas Services, the central heating, services and air conditioning arm of Centrica, has lost marketing director Roy Gayton, who left last week after six months in the job.
He is being replaced by Jamie Buchan, executive director of OIL – part of the Ocean Group. Buchan was previously divisional manager for gas marketing and retail manager for Esso UK. The company refuses to comment on Gayton’s departure.
Gayton took over as marketing director in October last year (MW October 16 1997). He was previously the interim marketing director for British Gas Trading, but he was replaced by former Camelot marketing chief Jon Kinsey.
At the time of his appointment, BGS hired Bartle Bogle Hegarty to handle its 4m advertising, although it has concentrated most of its marketing below the line since then. Last week, it launched a push for a new air-conditioning product, through Evans Hunt Scott.
