Rugby star moves into sponsorship

Former British Lions and Scotland Rugby Union captain Gavin Hastings, has launched a new sponsorship company called Craigie Hastings.

The company, which launched yesterday (Tuesday), is a joint venture with English-based sponsorship and public relations outfit Craigie Taylor. The new company will be based in Edinburgh.

Hastings becomes chairman of Craigie Hastings, while Craigie Taylor’s managing director Marcus Robertson moves across to become vice-chairman. Former Craigie Taylor group account director Giles Morgan becomes chief executive.

Hastings says: “There is a demand for the type of service that Craigie Hastings will be offering.”

Another spokesman for the company added: “We feel there is room for another agency in Scotland.”

Craigie Taylor handles Famous Grouse’s sponsorship of the Scottish rugby team, an account which will move to the new company.

Hastings runs his own personnel management company, Hastings International, and advises on marketing and sponsorship for a number of sports organisations.
