GRE to scrap marketing director role

Guardian Royal Exchange is axing the post of marketing director, held for the past two years by Larry Cattle, in a reshuffle sparked by its acquisition of PPP Healthcare.

Cattle leaves shortly to join financial actuaries Bacon & Woodrow, where he will develop new marketing plans. His position at GRE is being scrapped, but will be replaced with the role of director of communications, to be filled by Tom Harvey, the group communications manager of PPP Healthcare.

GRE announced it was buying PPP, the UK’s second largest private medical insurer, in December after beating off GE Capital and Halifax. It paid 435m in cash.

The move comes in the middle of a review of the 3m Guardian Direct ad account, held by CDP.
