New ITV sport show seeks sponsor deal

ITV is looking for a broadcast sponsor for a new Saturday lunchtime sports programme, after poaching Sky Sports presenter Gabby Yorath to front the show.

The programme will go on air from September. ITV is searching for a suitable male presenter to work alongside Yorath and has yet to give the programme a name.

Yorath, the 25-year-old daughter of former Wales football team manager Terry Yorath, was hired by Sky Sports to read the news in 1996. She has presented a variety of sports from football to ice hockey, and has regularly fronted Sky Sports Centre, a daily sports news programme.

Her contract with Sky runs until the end of August. When she moves to ITV she will also be expected to assist with the channel’s coverage of the Champions League.

ITV is understood to be looking for a programme sponsor for a three-hour Saturday morning children’s and teenagers’ show called SMTV/ LIVE, which begins at the end of August. The programme will be presented by Newcastle duo Ant & Dec, and the programme makers are looking for a female presenter to help them host the show.
