Maxim chief returns to EMAP Metro

Maxim publisher Mark Williamson is leaving Dennis Publishing after 11 months to return to EMAP’s magazine division for men’s and music titles.

Williamson becomes EMAP Metro’s publisher of special projects. He will look after the development of new titles inside this division, which already publishes Empire, Smash Hits, Sky and the market-leading FHM.

Williamson says: “I am in the post and I look forward to the job in hand.”

Sources within EMAP say that the new division could launch a new title by the end of the year.

Williamson spent four-and-a-half years at EMAP before joining Dennis Publishing. He was launch director of Total Sport and prior to that he was advertising director of EMAP’s music titles including Q and Mojo.

Dennis is understood to be conducting interviews to replace Williamson. In February Maxim, the number three men’s magazine in the country, reported a 65 per cent year-on-year increase in sales to 249,096.
