NMEC hires LTB business head Jones

The New Millennium Experience Company has hired Helen Jones, head of business development at the London Tourist Board, to take charge of its sponsorship liaison team.

Jones will join the company, which organises the Millennium Dome, later in the summer as general manager for client services. She will oversee a team of three executives and provide a link between the sponsors, the marketing department and designers.

An NMEC spokesman says she will fulfil an account management role for the sponsors. “She will manage client relationships. They pay for a zone and we have to manage them. The client services team will provide a focal point for the sponsors in terms of marketing, PR and the Dome,” he says.

Jones will also have a role in persuading new sponsors to sign up and may carry this work through to negotiations over contracts.

It has not been decided whether the client services team will report to commercial director Kevin Johnson or to new marketing and communications director Sholto Douglas-Home.

At the LTB, Jones organises sponsorship and fundraising for advertising and marketing campaigns overseas. Before joining LTB in 1996, she was a brand manager at the British Tourist Authority.
