Healthfood chain Holland & Barrett has awarded its 3m creative advertising account to Yellow M after a four-way pitch.

Yellow M beat WCRS, Golly Slater Brooker and Media Lane to win the account and is considering using a mix of TV, radio and outdoor to promote the retailer.

The healthfood chain, which has over 400 high street stores selling 5,000 lines, has faced increasingly tough competition in the health retail market from supermarkets and chemists. For example, Asda has slashed prices on vitamins recently.

Holland & Barrett commercial director Peter Aldis says: “Yellow M were able to demonstrate strong marketing strategies and creative through-the-line treatments which reflected our goals.”

Yellow M managing director Ben Quigley says: “We’ll be trading on the company’s reputation for best quality and demonstrating their best value pricing policy.”

In the past two months the agency, which opened an Edinburgh office earlier this year, has won 7m of new billings, including Littlewoods Index and Dunfermline Building Society.
