Capital Radio marketing chief Palmer resigns

Capital Radio marketing director Lizzie Palmer has resigned from the network after four years.

Palmer joined Capital from Bartle Bogle Hegarty in 1994, where she was an account manager. She leaves the company without a job to go to.

Capital is considering whether to replace her or distribute the responsibilities across a number of other positions.

Sally Oldham, Capital Radio managing director, has reappointed Abbott Mead Vickers. BBDO to develop work for the 12 stations owned by the network. AMV was initially appointed for six months, as first reported in Marketing Week (March 26).

Capital has divided its stations into four brands and has asked AMV to develop work for each one. The brands are: the AM Gold stations; the popular “sunny day” FM stations, which include the flagship Capital 95.8; adult contemporary stations, such as Ocean; and youth stations, such as Xfm.

Oldham says: “We like the work AMV has done for us and this is the beginning of a longer- term relationship with the agency.”

Capital has also reappointed media shop Unity to handle its media planning.

“Working alongside Unity and AMV will ensure that our marketing remains fresh and relevant in the future,” Oldham adds.

The network is the most profitable radio group in the UK, and reported six-month pre-tax profits of 18m in March.
