Media hacks sign for Sporting Life

Media and arts journalism seems to be losing its shine as a barrage of dedicated reporters defect to work on the relaunch of The Sporting Life.

The pre-season transfer market is rife in publishing offices from Clerkenwell to Soho. First, Guardian media editor John Mulholland joined to captain the team as editor.

Then came The Guardian’s literary editor Stephen Moss, who has been recruited as cricket correspondent for the title.

Even former Marketing Week deputy editor Tom O’Sullivan has joined the general news team.

But how they will fare against the tough opposition from rival teams of sporting hacks at The Sun and The Mirror is anyone’s guess.
