MediaCom wins 2.5m Kingsbury

Furniture retailer Kingsbury has handed its 2.5m account to media agency MediaCom.

MediaCom won the business after a two-way pitch with the incumbent, full service agency Banks Hoggins O’Shea. Banks Hoggins had held the business since winning it from Frontline Media in November 1996.

MediaCom will handle the planing and buying across both local and national press and radio.

Kingsbury is based in Northampton and has around 45 stores across the country. It owns the Wade chain of furniture stores as well as the Harrison Gibbon department store in Ilford, Essex.

This account will be handled by MediaCom’s in-house Retail Media Planning & Buying Unit, which includes Carpetright and Harveys furniture stores.

H&C Furnishings recently acquired the whole of the Kingsbury portfolio of companies. H&C managing director Rob Templeman says he plans to give the brands an upmarket image by bringing in new products and scaling down the amount of interest free credit the stores offer.
