Allergan starts 8m Euro review

Allergan, the contact lens solution manufacturer, is talking to agencies about its 8m pan-European advertising account.

The company has asked Grey Advertising and Saatchi & Saatchi’s healthcare division to pitch. The UK account is being reviewed out of London-based Innovation Advertising.

Ogilvy & Mather won the 2m Allergan northern European account at the end of 1994, after a two-way pitch against incumbent WCRS. However, the UK account was handed to Innovations about a year later.

The brief includes the relaunch of the company’s Complete brand. A new formula will be available at opticians from next month.

According to an Allergan spokeswoman, Complete has been altered to provide the contact lens wearer with “a feeling of freshness and enhanced comfort”. The brand was first launched in 1995.

The advertising is scheduled to break at the beginning of next year. Other Allergan contact lens brands include Total Care, Onestep, Oxystep and Comfort Plus.
