Publisher Sally Cartwright’s office has begun to resemble a corner of the perfumery hall at Harrods. In the name of good taste and the desire never to offend, Hello! ad execs are asked to apply the scent of whichever perfume advertiser they are about to meet.

The Diary wonders if this means Hello! journalists have to don ginger wigs when they interview Fergie, or bring their pet pythons to impress Anthea Turner.
