Television loves its audience and never has this been more apparent than now.
ITV unveiled its new heart-shaped logo last week. The press release endeavours to explain some of the thinking behind the new approach: “ITV is the channel closest to the heart of the nation.”
The release says that the logo is part of the channel’s new theme “TV From the Heart” – apparently this “reflects the channel’s unique position in British broadcasting”.
It’s an unfortunate choice of words because also unveiled last week was one of BBC Choice’s idents – another image of a heart.
Well it’s good to know that our national broadcasters really do love us – just switch on your TV, it’s like receiving a St Valentine’s card every day.
