Red or Dead guru fashions new Daewoo

Wayne Hemmingway, the man behind fashion label Red or Dead, is designing a one-off version of Daewoo’s Matiz to support the launch of the car at this year’s Birmingham Motor Show.

The Korean car maker is so pleased with his design, it is considering adapting it to use as a limited edition available to consumers, according to a spokeswoman for the company.

The Matiz, which costs from 6,320, is a small car designed for urban environments.

The Red or Dead version has “scratched” paintwork and bigger bumpers to protect it from scrapes. It also has hand-stitched black vinyl interior features, which are intended to give a feeling of security.

The urban theme is intended to mirror the image of Red or Dead, which is an urban streetwear label.
