Turner out as K-C axes top marketing post
Kimberly-Clark has axed the vice-president of marketing role for its struggling European family care sector, leaving Simon Turner jobless.
Turner was informed that his role – one of the most senior marketing jobs in the company – is to be eliminated and he was asked to leave immediately on Monday morning (October 12).
K-C is also to lose its consumer marketing director for family care, David Glik, as revealed exclusively in Marketing Week (October 8). Glik will become consumer marketing director of Nestlé’s food division on October 26.
The company brought in an “A-team” of three top US executives – Robert van der Merwe, Thomas Falk and Kathi Seifert – to shake up its European operations seven months ago (MW April 7).
K-C’s European business made an operating loss of $105m (66.6m) on sales of $2.5bn (1.5bn) in 1997, down from operating profits of $164m (100m) on sales of $2.9bn (1.75bn) in 1996.
A K-C spokeswoman says Turner has resigned, but refuses to comment further.
