Nationwide chiefs face shake-up

Nationwide Building Society has announced a major job swap between four of the company’s directors.

Mike Lazenby becomes the company’s divisional director, marketing. He was formerly divisional director, communications and replaces Tracy Morshead as head of marketing.

Morshead becomes divisional director, central retail operations, with responsibility for databases, direct marketing and debt management. He replaces Dennis Brockwell.

The job swap affects four of Nationwide’s 11 divisional directors. A spokeswoman for the building society says that the move is designed to widen these directors’ experience of the company.

Nationwide chief executive Dr Brian Davis says: “We already have the people with the necessary skills and expertise, and each of the individuals concerned will bring experience and impetus to their new roles.”

Brockwell leaves his former role, now taken by Morshead, to become divisional director, personnel & development.

Jeremy del Strother, the former divisional director, personnel & development, takes up a new role as divisional director, communications.

Lazenby joined the company in 1995 when Nationwide acquired UCB Home Loans Corporation, where he was managing director.

Nationwide is the title sponsor for the Football League in a three-year deal worth 5.25m which concludes at the end of the current season.
