Sky’s no limit for high-flyers

The next time you use the term high-flying about an advertising executive you should do so advisedly.

Last Thursday, TBWA GGT Simons Palmer creative director Trevor Beattie was literally the highest flying creative director on the planet.

He and his brother Kevin went up in a Russian MIG fighter to the edge of space. They were 15 miles up and cruising at a shade over Mach 2 – that’s 2,200 miles per hour to you and me.

“One side of the canopy was the blazing sun. The other was pitch black. Below us we could see the curvature of the earth,” says Beattie.

How much did this joyride cost? Well, don’t expect much change from 8,000. It’s the second most expensive thing our Trev has ever bought, he confides.
