Sixties model Twiggy has set up a company which will license her name as a brand.
According to David de Vall, intellectual property director for Twiggy & Co, the company has received requests from a variety of manufacturers who want Twiggy branding for their products.
Twiggy & Co chief executive David Hutton says: “She stands for health and naturalness.” He says the model’s image is a good fit for cosmetics, toiletries and aromatherapy oils.
The company is in talks about a tie-up with “healthy eating” products and it is believed fashion companies are also interested.
The deal to market Twiggy as a brand was sealed last month, following two years of negotiation.
Hutton says: “She is a role model for women of all ages. A lot of women of her age would love to look like her. When she called herself Twiggy in the Sixties she was creating her own brand – most people use their real names.”
The 49-year-old model was on the cover of Saga magazine earlier this year, and has recently recorded a song with controversial pop star Marilyn Manson.
