ASH campaign issues stern health warning

Anti-tobacco lobbyist ASH (Action on Smoking & Health) is launching a new poster campaign calling for bigger health warnings on cigarette packets.

Anti-tobacco lobbyist ASH (Action on Smoking & Health) is launching a new poster campaign calling for bigger health warnings on cigarette packets.

Called “Stitched Up”, the poster ad shows the torso of a man who has undergone heart surgery with a standard health warning: “Warning: Smoking causes heart disease” plus the strapline: “Warning: Health Warnings don’t work.”

Amanda Sandford, research manager at ASH, says: “This image conveys more about the consequences of smoking than current warnings.”

The ad, created by Rob DeCleyn and Simon Micheli, through Leavold Pollard Rogan Advertising, will appear on 26 poster sites across Greater London.

The campaign breaks this week, following a survey by ASH which it claims shows the present system of warnings is “inadequate”.
