Four more marketers leave Virgin

Victory-owned Virgin Clothing Company is parting company with a further four members of its marketing department.

The move follows the departure of marketing director Lesley Angus this summer.

The company has decided not to replace Angus. Marketing manager Sue Powell will head the marketing team in future, which, after the latest departures, now has four members.

Simon Glasgow, Virgin Clothing chief executive, denies the departures are anything to do with financial pressures. He says there is less need for product development now the range has been launched. He would not name the staff who are leaving.

A company statement says: “The Virgin Clothing Company has restructured to reflect post-launch activity levels.

“Rationalisation within the company has led to a number of roles being revised, and consequently four people have left the company on amicable terms this month. The Virgin Clothing Company is working to assist them in finding new positions.”

Last August, the Victory Corporation, which is the holding company for Virgin Clothing and cosmetics company Virgin Vie, warned that this year’s losses would be worse than expected and has cut back on its Virgin Vie store opening programme.

Virgin Vie made redundancies earlier this month in its retail and marketing departments.
