Rugby kicks Shamrock into touch

It takes 119.5 seconds to pour the perfect pint of Guinness, or so the advertising claims. But this could change when bar staff replace the shamrock shape they pour onto the head of each pint with a rugby ball.

Guinness Brewing Worldwide is training bar staff to put the new finishing touch to each pint as part of its 10m sponsorship of the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

Design consultancy Tutssels @ The Brand Union has developed the identity for Guinness’ sponsorship programme.

The event, which starts in September 1999, will be hosted by the Welsh Rugby Union.

Xerox is the latest sponsor to sign up to the Rugby World Cup and together with the other sponsors, including Visa and Coca-Cola, will have rights to the official logos and perimeter advertising at all games.
