ITV2 signs analogue access deal with CWC

ITV2, scheduled to launch on December 7, has signed a deal with Cable & Wireless Communications which will make the channel available on analogue television. The station launches on digital on the same night.

The service will be offered to analogue cable subscribers as part of CWC’s basic access package, which for 9.99 per month provides line rental and set-top box rental.

Brian Barwick, ITV2’s director of programming unveiled the channel’s scheduling details yesterday. It will broadcast from 4pm to 2am Monday to Friday, and from 9.25am Saturdays through to 2.30am on Sundays.

The channel will target a younger audience than ITV. Programmes include: Bedrock, a daily teenage magazine show; a weekly chat show hosted by Trevor McDonald; Through The Lens – Celebrity Portraits With Koo Stark; and The Locker, a health magazine show hosted by Gabby Yorath.

Sports coverage will include the UEFA Champions League, the 1999 Rugby World Cup, NBA basketball, boxing, snooker and mountain biking.

The station’s identity has been created by branding consultant English & Pockett.
