RPM3 ousts creative chief Sutton after row

RPM3 has parted company with its creative chief Rupert Sutton, who is understood to have been fired after falling out with senior managers at the agency.

Sutton left the agency last week, though none of the agency’s directors was available for comment yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

The official line is that Sutton has “gone on holiday”. But one source in the creative department says: “He no longer works here.”

Another source says the matter is in the hands of the lawyers. It is thought Sutton failed to gel with the agency’s senior managers following the merger last year between Butler Lutos Sutton Wilkinson – where he was creative director – and Cowan Kemsley Taylor, which created RPM3.

Sutton became creative partner of RPM3, which claimed combined billings of 60m.

It is understood that the creative directors Tim Johnson and Russell Wailes are continuing in their present positions.

The agency holds accounts including Mitsubishi, Pontin’s, United Biscuits and Somerfield, which is being reviewed following its merger with Kwik Save.
