K-C revamps Euro division to stem loss

Kimberly-Clark has consolidated its European marketing into a single operation and put new UK marketing director for family care Ben Anderson in charge of boxed tissues across Europe.

The long-awaited restructure is designed to give the troubled household products company greater focus in European markets.

In 1997, K-C lost $105m (63.6m) in Europe on sales of $2.5bn (1.5bn). It has been hit by competition from Procter & Gamble and smaller manufacturers.

In April, K-C drafted in three of its top US marketers to review the European division (MW April 2). It is thought that the consolidation of marketing across the continent is the outcome of the review.

A K-C spokeswoman says: “We will be able to look at things on a more pan-European level.”

As part of K-C’s new structure, he will also oversee boxed tissues across Europe.
