Vegetarian fast-food chain starts global push
Swedish vegetarian fast-food restaurant chain Meaning Green is to launch an ambitious international expansion programme – using the UK as a springboard.
The concept is backed by Electrolux chairman Rune Andersson and partner Alf Tnnesson, managing director of Swedish publishing company IMP, who set up Meaning Green in Sweden just over a year ago.
Meaning Green has three outlets in Sweden and is planning to open 100 restaurants worldwide in the next five years, starting in the UK, Europe and the US.
Meaning Green’s first non-Swedish outlet is expected to open in London’s West End. The company plans to have two UK restaurants by the end of the year.
The menu will be heavily biased towards organic and Asian food,
Stefan Rines, UK product manager, says: “There are vegetarian outlets and there are fast-food restaurants, but there are no vegetarian fast-food restaurants.”
