CK Cosmetics reshuffles marketers before launch

Calvin Klein Cosmetics has appoint-ed a raft of top executives across its UK and European businesses to coincide with the launch of its Contradiction for Men fragrance.

Last October the company promoted UK managing director Shelley Smyth to vice-president marketing and sales development Europe.

Hilary Dart has been named as Smyth’s replacement, with the title of UK affiliate director. Dart will join Unilever-owned Calvin Klein Cosmetics on February 8, leaving her old position of cosmetics senior buyer at department store Selfridges.

Sarah Wright has been appointed to the new role of European marketing director, and will report to Smyth at the company’s European head office in London’s Bond Street. She has worked for the company for nine years, most recently as UK marketing manager. Her position will be filled by Hilary Taylor as the most senior UK marketing position reporting to Dart.

Calvin Klein Cosmetics will launch its latest brand extension, Contradiction for Men, on March 15. A TV campaign will go on air the week before, and press ads will appear in March issues of lifestyle magazines.

The campaign features the new face of Calvin Klein, model Justin Chambers, who will be advertising new launches in the eyewear, jeans and top label ranges.

The company appointed Initiative Media to its 60m centralised pan-European media buying account in December 1998, after a pitch against CIA Medianetwork. Creative work is carried out in house.
