Osprey takes lead GM van role with 11m win

Osprey has ousted the InterPublic Group to take lead status on the Vauxhall/Opel van business, after winning the 11m account for the pan-European launch of the Movano.

Osprey has handled creative work on vans for General Motors’ UK brand Vauxhall for some time, but IPG held the lucrative business for the equivalent Opel brand in Europe.

After a pitch against IPG’s BH McCann and German agency Scherer, Osprey has won “lead creative status” for vans under both the Vauxhall and Opel names.

The agency is to handle the launch of the Movano, GM’s new big van, competing against vehicles such as the Ford Transit. A through-the-line campaign, including poster, press and radio work, is planned in up to 11 markets across Europe.

GM Europe is increasingly pursuing a policy of putting new projects up for competitive pitch among its roster of creative agencies.

This strategy has resulted in at least two recent sorties outside the IPG network, which handles GM worldwide.
