Talk Radio is just one big happy family

At the 1997 Edinburgh Festival, Kelvin MacKenzie said: “There is no middle-class friend of mine whose children I do not employ, including my own.” The Talk Radio boss is a man of his word, even if many of them are only four-letters long.

MacKenzie bought the station last October and currently employs two of his three children. Son Ashley is the station’s sales controller, and now daughter Kiershen works there as a researcher on celebrity talk show My Favourite Year.

The station recently got clearance from radio’s governing body, the Radio Authority, to increase the amount of music it plays. The Diary suggests the first record on air under the new regime should be Sly and the Family Stone’s “It’s A Family Affair”.
