Outrider, the new media holdings division of Tempus Group, has moved again to strengthen its US operations by acquiring a 60 per cent stake in New England agency BrainBug (www.brainbug.com). According to Outrider chief executive Rob Norman: “BrainBug is a young and successful company that has consistently won and retained business. We see the company as being complementary to our other recent (US) investments.”

This is London (www.thisislondon.com), the online version of the London Evening Standard, has signed a content and promotional agreement with Yahoo! UK & Ireland (www.yahoo.co.uk) to feature stories on Yahoo! News and Yahoo! Finance areas.

The Millennium Dome Experience Website is reporting traffic of 2.2 million page impressions in its first month. The site (www.dome2000.co.uk) was relaunched following a redesign by new media agency Razorfish on December 21.

Lastminute.com (www.lastminute.com) has extended its customer guarantees to boost consumer confidence in booking travel through the site. The UK service, which offers “time-sensitive premium travel, entertainment and present deals at absolute bargain prices”, has attracted 50,000 registered users since it launched in October, and is generating 2 million page impressions a month.

New media agency InteResource (www.interesource.co.uk) has been commissioned by Honda to produce a multimedia CD-Rom to reinforce the traditional above-the-line marketing campaign for its new 4×4 vehicle, the HRV “Joy machine”. InteResource is producing 15,000 CDs, which will be used as one module in a three-part teaser campaign to over 10,000 prospective customers in February.

Datanet, the online sports publisher, this week formally launches its Rugby World Cup site, Planet Rugby. The site (www.planet-rugby.com) plans daily news and statistical updates in the run-up to the competition, which begins in October.

Interflora (www.interflora.co.uk) has launched a promotional drive for its online ordering service in the run-up to Valentine’s Day.

Intershop, the German e-commerce software group, has registered fourth quarter revenues of DM12.4m (4.6m), up 170 per cent over the same period in the previous year. Total revenues for 1998 were DM35m (12.9m) up from DM10m (3.7m) in the previous year.

GLOBALdirect, the computer products retailer (www.globaldirect.co.uk), has signed as a merchant partner of Yahoo! UK & Ireland, promoting the retailer’s online sales facilities across the portal site’s computing and Internet-related areas.

Jeremy White, chief executive of new media consultancy NETTEC, has been invited to join the Design Council’s Millennium Products panel (www.millennium-products.org.uk).
