MediaVest director of strategy quits

MediaVest strategy director Nigel Foote is leaving to set up the UK arm of a US marketing consultancy. Doug Read, MediaCom’s former director of research, will replace him.

Foote, who has worked at Media-Vest for six years, becomes principal managing director of the Hudson River Group with a small personal stake in the company. He will be responsible for setting up a new team, including staff from Hudson River’s New York headquarters and UK recruits, and for finding London offices for the operation.

He says the consultancy, which already works with Polaroid, Quaker, Johnson & Johnson, Colgate-Palmolive and Liberty in the UK, advises clients on how to get an optimum return on marketing. “It’s about improving a client’s marketing mix,” he says.

Foote, who set up the strategy unit at MediaVest, previously worked at Carat International and Ogilvy & Mather.

He will be replaced by Read next month, who joins MediaVest as director of research and strategy. Read leaves Grey-owned MediaCom following its merger with The Media Business Group (TMBG) last November.

Read’s responsibilities at MediaCom TMB will be taken over by Andy Richmond and Jeremy Griffiths, heads of research at MediaCom and TMBG respectively, and Sue Unerman, head of strategic planning at TMBG.
