McCann retains 4m Post Office

McCann-Erickson is understood to have retained the 4m Post Office corporate advertising account.

McCann pitched against Bartle Bogle Hegarty, BMP DDB, WCRS and Lowe Howard-Spink for the business, after the advertising review by the Post Office, which began in May last year.

The 50m creative postal services account, which has been reviewed out of Bates Dorland, is also up for grabs. It includes the postal service, special delivery, business and stamp accounts. It is understood that a shortlist of agencies has been compiled.

The Post Office spent 2.5m on its corporate advertising in 1997 when McCann created a TV campaign to promote the Post Office’s reputation worldwide, with the strapline “With the Post Office it’s sorted”. Last year corporate spend dived below 1m, but it is expected to increase this year.

Last month Ammirati Puris Lintas won the Post Office’s 3m Parcelforce Worldwide account after a pitch against ten-year incumbent J Walter Thompson and Bartle Bogle Hegarty (MW January 28).
