Kickers plans ‘giant’ ads for new campaign

Footwear and clothing brand Kickers is to launch a new advertising campaign using huge poster sites in seven of the UK’s biggest cities.

The press and poster campaign, created by parent company Pentland Group’s in-house team, begins on March 1. New PHD sister company Rocket handled media planning and buying.

The campaign shows young men in a variety of social situations. The company is aiming for an “unpretentious” look. It will roll out on 48-sheet posters and “megasite” posters, which are 16 times larger than the standard 48-sheet panels, at 2,500 sq ft. The sites will appear in seven cities – London, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham.

Press advertising and a mini-catalogue will also feature in the April issue of FHM.

Hugh Sweeney, Kickers marketing manager, says: “The brand is so diverse, covering clothing, foot-wear and jeans, that the advertising was in danger of becoming fragmented. We wanted to create a consistent message.”
