Hello! magazine plans to launch celebrity TV show

Hello! magazine is creating a TV version of its top-selling magazine, featuring televised interviews of the rich and famous at home.

The publishing company is understood to have put together a pilot programme and is presenting it to ITV within the next two weeks. Hello! refuses to comment on the project, leaving it unclear whether it plans a one-off programme or a series.

A TV show would be a suitable extension for the magazine which publishes photographs of the rich, famous and titled in their homes and at their weddings.

It would also give Hello! a valuable point of difference from its rival OK!, published by Northern & Shell, which has outbid Hello! for exclusive rights to celebrity photographs.

Hello! magazine has carved a successful niche in the women’s magazine market and has a circulation of 510,552. But in the last Audit Bureau of Circulations figures Hello! was down 11.1 per cent year on year, while OK! climbed from 226,504 to 400,701.

Pop star Victoria Adams and her fiancé, England footballer David Beckham, were reported to be turning their wedding into a mini-TV series with production company Planet 24 for Channel 4.
