Redstone seeks agency for relaunch campaign

Redstone Telecom is looking for an advertising agency and may relaunch with a new name later this year following the appointment of a new marketing director.

Marketing chief Bob Cushing joins Redstone from networking company 3Com Corporation, where he was director of worldwide strategic alliances and, before that, European marketing director.

Cushing says he is looking to appoint an advertising agency of record. In the past, Redstone has used Ware Anthony Rust on a project by project basis. He will implement “a significant uplift in marketing spend” for the next financial year.

Redstone is researching a name change for a May/June relaunch. Cushing says: “We may completely relaunch. The name doesn’t have much connection to the company and it can’t be used as a Web address.”

Cushing says Redstone will concentrate on brand building, and double its marketing department to 12 people before autumn. “Our brand values will focus on being lean, fit and pragmatic rather than emphasising style over content.”

Redstone was given a licence to run a public telephone network in 1995 and now claims to be the country’s sixth largest telecoms network by geographical coverage.
