Glenmorangie, the whisky distiller which recently warned of a massive stock overhang as a result of ‘inaccurate reporting’ by a sales manager, has been shortlisted for the Scottish Institute of Practitioners in Advertising 1999 advertising effectiveness awards. The IPA defends the integrity of the entry by ad agency 1576 on the basis that Glenmorangie’s performance was judged on Nielsen supermarket data which was unaffected by the bogus sales figures.

Advertising Brasserie has created TV and radio ads for the Disney Channel to promote the movie Toy Story, which will be shown on TV for the first time on April 4, Easter Sunday. The ads will run from the end of this week.

Walsh Trott Chick Smith has won the 1.5m account for financial services company Johnson Fry.

Whitewater, the ad agency, has devised a campaign for Cafod, the Catholic Church’s overseas development charity, to promote its Millennium Gift Aid scheme.

DMB&B has created a national press and radio campaign for building supply superstore chain Wickes. The campaign which supports its DIY booklet distributed to 8 million homes, launches this week.

Sass Panayi has created a new 1m press advertising campaign for sports retailer Intersport, with the strapline ‘In the know’, focusing on the expertise of the chain’s staff.

Springetts, the design consultancy, has been appointed to design packaging for sportswear manufacturer Umbro as part of the company’s move away from its long-held Only Football marketing strategy.

Lewis Moberly has created a new identity for Novartis Consumer Health-owned cold relief brand Otrivin.

Lloyd Ferguson Hawkins has been appointed to develop a new pack identity for lingerie manufacturer Pretty Polly.

Allied Carpets has appointed integrated agency BDS Beechwood to its 2m direct marketing account.
