Faulds lures Bentley from EURO RSCG fold

Faulds Advertising has pulled off another coup, luring EURO RSCG Wnek Gosper board planner Mike Bentley to Edinburgh, to become planning director, just two months after it secured the company’s creative director Billy Mawhinney.

Bentley was responsible for the Cadbury, Häagen-Dazs, Microsoft and Reckitt & Colman accounts.

Bentley believes planning has lost its way in the London advertising industry. He says: “Planners have become ‘super suits’ but I am interested in planning as a commercially applied aspect of creative work. Faulds has the conviction and passion to become a major UK agency.”

Faulds managing director Dennis Chester says: “Mike brings experience of great agencies and huge brands. We had, and will have again, the biggest and best planning department outside London.”

Bentley starts at Faulds on April 1, and replaces Greig McCallum who joined GGT Direct as senior planning partner last month.

In the same paradoxical way that some drinks manufacturers are among the most unsociable people on earth, and there’s no place like a woolly liberal newspaper for back-stabbing and prejudice, luxury goods manufacturers have a habit of behaving in some pretty unsophisticated ways.
