…while Mercedes seeks marketing chief

Mercedes-Benz UK is looking for a new board-level marketing chief following the departure of Walter Greaves, director of passenger cars.

Greaves leaves Mercedes this July after nine years with the company. Mercedes is seeking a car marketer to replace him who will report to Paul Halata, managing director of Mercedes UK.

The new director will oversee sales and marketing for all Mercedes car products and will sit on the board above Simon Oldfield, general manager of passenger car marketing.

Greaves, 58, had a 20-year career with Ford in research, sales and marketing before joining Mercedes. He says: “The company needs a new structure on which to build its future growth. As I am likely to retire in the next couple of years, I could not realistically provide the necessary long-term continuity.”

Halata adds: “As we move into the new millennium our aim is to establish a new team that will be able to deliver the long-term goals that both Mercedes-Benz UK and DaimlerChrysler have set.”

Daimler-Benz and US car giant Chrysler merged last year, creating DaimlerChrysler.
