Telinco unveils service package for free ISPs

Telinco, the telecoms and Internet services provider, is launching a complete package for companies planning to set up as a free ISP.

Telinco, which connects The Sun newspaper’s recently launched free ISP (CurrantBun.com) to the Internet, already provides a “Virtual ISP” package called Callshare for a number of smaller free ISPs such as Voss Net, AtheneNet and Connect Free.

Telinco provides the network through which these smaller

ISPs can have Internet space, while sharing common facilities such as e-mail management and content supplies.

Telinco marketing director Simon Preston comments: “We realised that with a few extra services, the Callshare package could be offered directly to small and medium-sized companies with little or no experience of new media marketing, but who nevertheless want to reinforce brand loyalty by becoming an ISP.”

The new package – Preston is still working on a name – will offer Internet access connectivity, end-user technical support, management of e-mail and Web space services, content supply and design.

The client is encouraged to specify what the site should look like, what it should offer and when it should start.

According to Preston, the new package is an efficient way for VISPs to maintain an outwardly independent identity while benefiting from shared portal strategies, content and advertising.

Companies can, for example, pool their subscriber databases for shared direct marketing campaigns.
