A new guessing game was doing the rounds in adland last week, called “How much is Ogilvy & Mather paying Paul Simons?”, after the agency announced the veteran ad man is to become its new chairman and chief executive.
The Diary has uncovered a vital clue to the value of the Simons’ package: his company car. Rumour has it the former TBWA UK chairman will soon be spotted about town not at the wheel of his new car but in the back seat. He has plumped for a chauffeur-driven motor.
So now the game is “Guess the motor”. Given that Simons already has a super-charged Jaguar XKR for London and a wide-bodied Turbo 911 Porsche for the country, the Diary’s money is on an elegant Bentley.
