Express chief Rudd-Jones takes on United Net role

Express Newspapers’ managing director Nicholas Rudd-Jones is leaving to head online business development for parent company United News & Media.

Rudd-Jones is being replaced by Express Newspapers’ advertisement director Andy Jonesco.

Rudd-Jones will now be responsible for championing and co-ordinating cross-group online oppor- tunities, reporting directly to Clive Hollick, chief executive of United News & Media.

Hollick says: “In his two years at Express newspapers, Nicholas has played a key role in strengthening the business, developing the newspapers and successfully developing the Express and Daily Star brands online.”

Rudd-Jones’ first task will be to work with LineOne the venture owned jointly with BT following the departure of News International in an attempt to conclude a series of online partnership arrangements with all of UN&M’s major UK companies.

The groups interests include Anglia, Meridian and HTV, Express Newspapers, NOP, United Advertising Publications and Miller Freeman.

Richard Bogie, head of classified advertising, will take over Jonesco’s role. Commercial director Paul Woolfenden will take over responsibility from the advertising department for the Enterprises department, which looks after all commercial ventures such as the book club and credit card.

The responsibilities of Lindsay Cook, editorial development director, have been extended to include the Scottish and Irish operations of Express newspapers.
