Orangina, the soft drink brand, is to introduce a range of branded clothing using the name ‘Move by Orangina’. The range, which also includes accessories, will first appear in France this winter before being rolled out across Europe next year.

Quelle, the German mail order house, has awarded its advertising account to Jung von Matt. The business had been handled in-house since leaving Springer & Jacoby in July last year.

Ahold, the Dutch retailer, is to purchase eight further supermarkets in Poland, taking its total number of stores in the country to over 100. The outlets were previously owned by Centrum.

Kimberly-Clark has bought the Hakle and Tela hygienic tissue brands from Attisholz Holding AG. Hakle is best known for its moist toilet tissues, which hold market-leading positions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Fiatyr, the Spanish viewers and listeners association, says that up to 1 million TV sets were turned off in Spain on May 10 to recognise ‘Da sin Televisin’ (Day without Television). The event was organised as a protest against TV companies exceeding permitted advertising limits.

Rothmans has launched a new cigarette brand, Havana, in Greece and Singapore. The concept for Havana, which is positioned against premium brands, was developed in conjunction with Amsterdam agency BSUR.

Lidl & Schwarz is to sell a majority stake in Hauser, its DIY subsidiary, to AVA, the Bielefeld-based retail group. The 30 Hauser outlets will be combined with AVA’s existing Marktkauf and Dixi chains.

Yoplait, the yogurt brand, has been removed from Spanish supermarket shelves in protest at the company’s advertising strategy, which is perceived to discriminate against fresh fruit (MW April 22).

Migros, the Swiss retailer, has introduced a new personal finance concept, the M-Finance shop. Central to the concept is a network of interactive terminals, called Bancolinos, which offer a wider range of services than traditional cash machines.

Teisseire, the French squash drink manufacturer, has paid Ffr.4m (400,000) to acquire Visegradi, a Hungarian mineral water brand. Teisseire already has a presence in Hungary through its Szobi Szrp subsidiary.

Belgium’s ‘Grand Effie’ prize for advertising effectiveness has been awarded to a campaign produced by agency GV/Company for the newspaper De Morgen. Other agencies honoured include VVL/BBDO and Publicis.
