Currys finance manager nets top brand role

Currys electrical chain, part of the Dixons Stores Group, has promoted Andrew Hurford to the brand development director’s post left vacant after the group’s root and branch changes in January.

Hurford was promoted to the position from his role as Currys finance manager.

He will report to John Risman, who was promoted from marketing director to managing director of Currys in the reshuffle. Hurford will work alongside product marketing director Peter Keenan, and will have specific responsibility for developing the Currys brand.

The new role was created following the reorganisation launched by Dixons Stores Group chief executive John Clare in January, which was designed to build the group’s various well-known names.

The Currys chain, along with DSG’s other main retail brands Dixons and PC World, was separated into its own division in the reshuffle, with brand development roles created at each.

The Currys position was the only vacancy left to fill following changes which saw Elisabeth Fagan, former Dixons marketing director, handed the top role of group marketing services director.
