BMP scoops Glenfiddich £2.5m brief

BMP DDB has won the £2.5m UK advertising account for Glenfiddich, the world’s biggest-selling single malt whisky brand.

BMP DDB has won the &£2.5m UK advertising account for Glenfiddich, the world’s biggest-selling single malt whisky brand.

The agency pitched against Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi and Partners BDDH for the business. Incumbent McCann-Erickson did not repitch.

It is understood the appointment, which was solely for the UK account, may open the way for BMP to work on Glenfiddich’s advertising overseas. McCann handles the worldwide account.

It is also thought that BMP will work with an enlarged media spend as brand-owner William Grant & Sons seeks to hold onto Glenfiddich’s position as the UK and world’s top single malt whisky brand.

ACNielsen-MEAL recorded an advertising spend of &£1m last year. However, this is expected to increase, with the vast bulk of it being spent on press work.

The pitch, which followed a search through Agency Assessments, was overseen by Heather Graham, managing director of WM Grant, who joined from Campbell Distillers in September.

Media buying, which is handled by Universal McCann, was not affected by the review.
